Apple will require all App Store games to have ISBNs in China from July

Apple Will allegedly require all games found on its App Store to take an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) from China on July 1st, 2020.

Based on Dooku Game VP of business growth Gio Zhang (through LinkedIn), the new policy has been announced by the China Press and Publication ministry, together with the government saying that no matter that the developer, writer, or business is, an ISBN is going to be necessary to procure a launch in the nation.

No details have been given on whether existing names in China will need to upgrade to adhere to this new judgment.

The rule was also found on Apple’s history inspection page (through WeChat utilizing Google Translate).

“By Chinese law, matches will need to be approved by the State Administration of Press and Publication,” reads the recently implemented policy.

“Thus, please give us the acceptance quantity of any game or sport that provides in-app purchases that you want to launch in mainland China from June 30, 2020. You can input the match approval date and number below. For additional information, please refer to the initial note.

Apple recently confirmed that its previously established sales goals for the quarter will probably not be fulfilled as a consequence of the coronavirus epidemic in China.
